Hara Prasad Chatterjee of Chandrasekharpur Venkateswar English Medium School emerged champion in the 1st All-Odisha Schools Open Chess Tournament, garnering full eight points here at Nageswar Gangi today.
Altogether 83 players from 19 schools participated in the two-day tournament, which was organised by Shining Stars Play School. Senior gynaecologist Dr Veena Panda handed over the prizes in the presence of school principal Neha Gupta and tournament director Debasis Panigrahi.
FINAL STANDINGS (Top 10): 1. Hara Prasad Chatterjee (8), 2. Anant Prava Naik (6.5), 3-4. Vivek Sahoo, Amrutanshu Mohanty (6 each), 5-10. Anshuman Nanda, Swapnil Priyadarshi, Sumit Kumar, Ashraya Das, Jagadish Ghadai, Tarini Nayak (each 5.5).
